Hello World Publications was founded in 1992 by Janet E. Joy. When the company first started, we published computer science textbooks. When her friend and colleague, Dr. Ann Lesman, complained about the lack of good language software, Ms. Joy began developing materials for use Dr. Lesman’s Spanish classes. These materials were enthusiastically received by the students because they made learning Spanish fun. From the beginning, our goal has been to create materials that were educationally sound, yet enjoyable for the students. We have received comments and suggestions from hundreds of students and faculty and have welcomed their ideas and suggestions to help create a superior language learning course. We have also benefited from the suggestions of the native speakers whose voices we have recorded. Victor Morles, a talented musician who recorded much of the Spanish, suggested we add “dichos”, sayings. Hundreds of authentic sayings are now sprinkled through out the dictionary. Native Parisian Yoanna Talopp recorded most of the French and she introduced us to Jean de la Fontaine. She has recorded the complete works of Jean de la Fontaine and they are now a major part of the French pages. Many of our native speakers are musicians and they have recorded native songs that they remembered from when they were children. Now in our twelfth year, we continue to grow. In addition to adding new languages, we have recently begun to add activities especially designed for very young children.
We also welcome ideas from you, our loyal subscribers and our guests.
