Learn to use the Drawing Tools in Flash CS3
This is a brief summary of the drawing tools in Flash.
Image Tool Hot Key Use
Selection Tool (V) Selection Tool V Click this to deselect an item, to end a curve drawn with the pen tool and to select an item. Double clicking with the selection tool will select both fill and stroke.
Subselection Tool (A) Subselection Tool A Edit Bezier curves drawn with the pen tool.
Free Transform Tool (Q)\ Free Transform Tool Q Change size, or rotate an object
    Gradient Transform Tool (F) Gradient Transform Tool F Control the starting point, angle and rotation of a gradient fill.
Lasso Tool (L) Lasso Tool L Select an irregular area that cannot be selected by the selection tool.

  When you select the lasso tool these buttons appear at the bottom of the tool bar. The Magic Wand tool lets you select a consistently colored area (for example, a red flower) without having to trace its outline. The polymode lets you select an area by clicking points around the perimeter.
Pen Tool(P) Pen Tool P Draw Bezier Curves
    Add Anchor Add Anchor Point Tool = Edit Bezier curves by adding a new anchor point.
    Delete Anchor Delete Anchor Point Tool - Edit Bezier curves by adding a new anchor point.
    Delete Anchor Convert Anchor Point Tool C Edit Bezier curves by converting the points on a path between corner to smooth points.
Text Tool(T) Text Tool T Add text.
Line Tool(N) Line Tool N Draw straight lines.
Rectangle Tool(R) Rectangle Tool R Draw rectangles. Hold down shift to draw a square.
    Oval Tool (O) Oval Tool O Draw ovals. Hold down shift to draw a circle.
    Rectangle Primitive Tool (R) Rectangle Primitive Tool R The primitive tool lets you select options such as rounded corners in the property window.
   Oval Primitive Tool (O) Oval Primitive Tool O The primitive tool lets you select options such as start and end angle in the property window.
    Polystar Tool Polystar Tool   The polystar tool lets you select star or polygon, the number of sides or points and the star point size in the property window.
Pencil Tool (Y) Pencil Tool Y Draw strokes in the selected stroke color.
Pencil options     When you select the pencil tool these buttons appear at the bottom of the tool bar. They let you chose the type of line you want to draw.
Brush Tool (B) Brush Tool B Draw fills in the selected fill color.
    Brush Options    

When you select the brush tool these buttons appear at the bottom of the tool bar. They are: Lock Fill, Brush mode, Brush size, and Brush Shape.

If you have a stylus you will also see the buttons for Use Pressure and Use Tilt.

Ink bottle Tool (S) Ink Bottle Tool S Change or add a stroke to an object.
Paint Bucket Tool(K) Paint Bucket Tool K Change or add a fill to a stroke.
Fill options     When you select the Paint Bucket Tool this button appears at the bottom of the tool bar.
Eyedropper Tool(I) Eyedropper Tool I Change the fill color by selecting an existing color on the stage.
Eraser Tool(E) Eraser Tool E Erases both fills and strokes, but does not effect primitive objects or any other type of object.
Eraser Options     When you select the eraser tool these buttons appear at the bottom of the toolbar: erasrer mode, faucet, eraser shape.
Hand Tool(H) Hand Tool H Lets you move the visible area of the stage.
Zoom Tool(M,Z) ZoomTool M,Z Lets you zoom in, or enlarge the screen.
    Zoom Tool options     After selecting the zoom tool, you can select enlarge or reduce.
Zoom Tool(M,Z) Stroke Color   Lets you select the color to be used for strokes.
Fill color Fill Color   Lets you select the color to be used for fills.
Black and White/Swap Colors Black and White,
Swap Colors
  Actually two separate buttons. The first makes the stroke black and the fill white. The second swaps the fill and stroke colors with each other.
No Color No color   No fill will be put in when drawing a shape that would normally have a fill.
Snap To Objects Snap To Objects   With this on, when you move an object the corners will "snap on to" other objects when you move them.
Snap To Objects Object Drawing (J) J This button appears when you select line, a shape, pencil, or pen. With this on, objects are drawn as a group. If you want to edit an object CTRL+B breaks it apart.
